Austin's new chair

While we were on vacation we went to a Lumber Jack Show in Mackinac City. The lumberjacks carved this chair for our little man!

Austin had his year check up today and weighed in at 26lb 13oz (after a big lunch :) and was 31.5 inches. Everything else checked out just fine and Austin had so much fun until the mean lady with the needles walked in! He got a finger prick (just like his great grandma does) to check for lead and anemia. Lead levels were low so thats good- and then he got his regular vaccines and his flu shot.

we're back!

I am not sure if anyone noticed the lack of posts this past week...but we're back! Andrew and I were SO blessed to take a vacation (yes, again) with 2 friends up north. We toured the Upper LP and the UP of Michigan. Starting in Mackinac, we headed to the Island, St. Ignace, Tahquamenon falls and ending in Pictured rocks. There are many stories to share later with pictures, but to sum it up, we biked about 30 miles, hiked 35 miles and went on a 3 hour kayak trip, all in between climbing rocks and plunging in frigid waters!

Austin was spoiled by all his grandparents over the week while we were gone. We are so lucky to have such great family. Thank YOU!

Austin LOVED the pool yesterday. He walked all around and fell, and walked and fell...over and over (oh and then i would have to scoop him up because he didnt seem to mind his head under the water!)

We had lots of family over to celebrate Austins big day. Lots of out of towners made the trip over, but the big winners are Aunt Rose and Uncle Greg that drove all the way from St. Louis!

Austin loves his new fridge farm from Aunt Chelle- she's the coolest!

One year already?

Can you believe he's a year already? How crazy how fast that went by! This is what Austin has been up to:

• Says mama, dada and ball


• Is walking (and crashing)- can make it across the room, but still quite wobbily


• Still has a great appetite and will eat just about anything


• Is on 2% milk and water


• loves to be in the water, play in his pool and with his water table


• still loves going for walks in the stroller

As far as a typical day, Austin is still taking 2 naps (mid AM and mid afternoon) about 2 hours each and sleeps great through the night for the most part. Bedtime and awake time are both between 7 and 8.

He smiles all the time and his personality is really starting to come out. It is adorable, but pesky. If he wants something, he's gonna get it one way or the other (I wonder where he gets that from? haha). He is really determined and follows through with his wishes.

He loves attention and LOVES to give out smiles when we are at stores and loves it even more when he gets a smile or wave back. It is amazing to see how easily he can change someone's day for the better. What a ham...

Not me Mondays

I thought I would try this as I really enjoying reading MckMama's blog and she is known for her Not Mondays where she and many other bloggers out there admit those things that they surely did "not" do!
1. I did NOT open the bag of mini animal crackers that my mom bought for Austin and try them before he did, and I then did NOT get called out on it by my own mother
2. I did NOT waste 3 hours tonight on the computer and watching TV. I am much more productive when others are here :)
3. For dinner I did NOT have small amounts of snickers, M&M's, black and red licorice with lots of Iced Tea. Good thing Austin doesnt eat like his Mama.

Rolling Hills

After a long weekend of being on call, we all worked hard and it was time to play. We decided to head to the water park since there was only a 5% chance of rain until 2pm. Weather man Holt viewed the clouds and was convinced it was going to rain. Sure enough, the clouds opened up and it POURED after about 30 minutes of being there. I convinced everyone to stick it out and we were glad we did. It only rained about 15 minutes and cleared right up. Luckly we got a great dry spot under a huge umbrella and had ourselves some lunch that we snuck in.
